5th Joint Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America and Acoustical Society of Japan

The conference was quite a memorable experience for me. Mostly because I have dreams of going to graduate school, so getting a chance to talk to so many graduate students in an environment that encourages long discussions was great. I took advantage of any opportunity, from simply asking a presenter what they meant or just complimenting their presentation. There was also a Student social and highly recommend that to anyone in the future going. | I have to say though it was really overwhelming choosing which lectures to attend as you can’t attend them all and sometimes you go into a lecture that sounded interesting but, you have no idea what they are talking about. So for future reference, I recommend looking at the list of presenters ahead of time and finding topics you might be interested in and doing some background research. This way you can properly engage in the lecture and not waste you time. Luckily lectures are grouped together by topics, so that helps. Overall for anyone thinking about graduate school these events are great as they can give really good insight to the life of graduate students.
