5th Joint Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America and Acoustical Society of Japan

Having the opportunity to attend a conference where my team’s work was being presented was very rewarding. Myself and the rest of our team has been working on research in low frequency underwater wave propagation for the last nine months. So it was a cool experience to see the thing we’d been working on presented at an academic conference. The conference was split into about 8 sections including Underwater Acoustics, Linguistics, Signal Processing, Engineering Acoustics and a few more that I can’t remember. Each section had a presentation session and a poster session. Our presentation was in the underwater acoustic session of the conference, which was a small session with only presentations that were similar to ours. It was interesting to see other underwater acoustics presentations because it’s such a specific area of study, and yet there was a wide variety of presentations. Attending the conference certainly gave me a context for the research I’ve been working on. I plan on using that context to continue working on the research in the future.
